Books and Resources for jazz leaners

"How to Play Jazz and Improvise" by Jamey Aebersold

A book and play-a-long CD or mp3 downloads.  Beginning to intermediate.

This book is very practical and easy to learn from.  Plenty of practice ideas which you can try immediately with play-a-long recordings (CD or mp3 downloads).  On top of that, what I loved about this book is that cheerful words of encouragements appear throughout the book.

"The Jazz Piano Book" by Mark Levin

For intermediate-to-advanced musicians

The author and jazz pianist Mark Levin shares extensive and in-depths information about jazz piano.  Going thru even just a first few chapters is a huge learning and gets you started on jazz piano (like it did for me).  Read patiently, go over examples, and practice a list of suggested songs while applying the new skills and concepts that Mr. Levin presents in each chapter.  Note: I don't recommend this book for those who are new to musical notations and theory.  I suggest that you find a lighter read.
